One of the most renown green teas in the world, Gunpowder derives its name from the Chinese word “Zhucha” meaning Pearl Tea, and from the tightly rolled up shape of the leaves into a ball, resembling gunpowder pellets. The tighter the roll of the leaf, the more high-end the tea. In the Arab world, it is mixed with mint to make Moroccan Mint tea. Unlike most Chinese green tea which are pan-fried, “Gunpowder” is steamed during fixation.
